Augsburg is most easily reached via train from Munich Airport (MUC).
You will need to take the S-Bahn (S1 or S8) from Munich Airport to München Hauptbahnhof (Munich main train station) before you can catch a train to Augsburg. Plan at least 2 hours in total from Munich Airport to Augsburg.
The S1 and S8 S-Bahn lines connect the airport to the Munich Central Station (Hauptbahnhof) at 10-minute intervals. The S1 travels via the west of the city and the S8 via the east. The trip to the main railway station at the city center takes approx. 40 minutes.
If you prefer to take a taxi from Munich airport to Munich central station, the average price is €70. Without traffic, the journey takes around 45 minutes.
Trains leave from München Hauptbahnhof (Munich Main Train Station) towards Augsburg Hauptbahnhof, every 20 minutes and operate every day. The journey takes approximately 50 minutes.
Regional trains between Augsburg and Munich have "Fugger Express" displayed on them. They usually continue in the direction of Ulm or Donauwörth after Augsburg Central Station. For more information (timetable and booking), see here.
